The chef has created a menu for the anniversary with the Prestige Sherry Cask Fundador Supremo collection

Fundador celebrated the 150th anniversary of the birth of the first Spanish brandy with a fusion dinner prepared by Romain Fornell at his restaurant Azul Rooftop Barceloneta in the Ocean building, a privileged gastronomic space with the Mediterranean as a backdrop. A unique event in which Fundador and the prestigious French chef took a step further in their alliance started two years ago when Fornell was captivated by the rich legacy of the brand during a visit to the wineries in Jerez.

For this historic occasion, Fornell has created a unique menu of singular dishes paired with brandies. After the starters with Iberian ham and other delicacies with a Harveys fine wine (in whose American oak barrels, Sherry Casks, the Supremo ages) came a tasty Bilbao-style turbot, paired with the brandy from the Prestige Fundador Supremo 12 Pedro Ximenez collection. Next, a succulent old cow on the grill with rosemary potatoes fused with Fundador Supremo 15 Amontillado.

In the desserts came the highlight of the evening. The delicate flan with chantilly, the pineapple cubes with lime and mint and the brownie with ice cream arrived at the table accompanied by the exclusive limited edition of Fundador brandy created for the 150th anniversary. A liquid that contains some drops from the founding cask which is preserved in the Fundador wineries in Jerez. A gem of which only 250 units have been bottled, numbered and certified by the Master Blender. A unique sensory experience that allows you to taste a century and a half of history.

This limited edition 150-year brandy is for Ángel Piña, global Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer of Emperador Distillers is the excellence of time bottled: “a sublime symbol of our Fundador brandy that was born to remind the world of the affection, work and passion that beats in the winery since 1874. It is at the same time an innovative product, a reinterpretation that confirms that brandy has a promising future” explained Piña to the dinner attendees.

Fornell, thanked Fundador for the opportunity to celebrate together a very special anniversary: “It is an honor to be able to tell the long history of Fundador through my dishes showing the evolution of brandies, their versatility and the magnetism of a distillate that inspires different and original pairings”.

Fundador collaborates with the best national chefs and hospitality entrepreneurs designing unique events, singular tastings and exclusive pairings with brandies. Continued strategy to boost the consumption of brandy through high gastronomy. And to tell that the Prestige Fundador Supremo can be consumed after meals, but also during meals, a trend that has already caught on among consumers looking for new experiences.
