Haro (La Rioja Alavesa), September 10, 2025
Fundador was the protagonist last Sunday in one of the most outstanding events of the twinning program between Haro and Jerez de la Frontera with a special brandy tasting held at the Haromas Agricultural and Gastronomic Market. The numerous attendees tasted three emblematic references from the oldest winery in Jerez and the cradle of Fundador, the first Spanish brandy: Fundador Sherry Cask Solera, Fundador Sherry Cask Doble Madera and Fundador Supremo 12. Liquids specially selected to bring the tradition and excellence of Fundador
During the tasting, Joan Muñoz, Trade Ambassador of the brand, guided the attendees through the history of Fundador. He explained the process of making this distillate, which starts from Jerez wine and ages through the traditional criaderas and soleras system. And he highlighted the importance of the wine-soaked barrels (sherry cask) in the development of the nuances and character of each Fundador brandy.
There was also a tasting of local products, which highlighted the connection between the gastronomies of La Rioja Alavesa and Jerez. “Fundador brandy is tradition and quality, a liquid with more than 150 years of history, and offering it in Haro, the heart of La Rioja Alavesa, is a shared joy”, Muñoz highlighted during the presentation.
This tasting is part of the agenda of the twinning between Haro and Jerez, a historical link that originated with the arrival of electricity, as both cities were pioneers in this advancement in their respective regions. The official signing of the twinning was celebrated in an institutional event with the mayor of Jerez, María José García-Pelayo, and other regional, local authorities and representatives of the Rioja and Jerez Regulatory Councils. The festive program also included other cross-tastings between wineries from both territories.
With this tasting, Fundador reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of brandy culture and its dedication to creating unique experiences to showcase the richness of the oldest winery in the Marco de Jerez region.
