Jerez de la Frontera, April 21, 2026

Fundador will participate on next April 25th at the “Literature and Wine” day, an initiative promoted by the Jerez City Council in collaboration with the Regulatory Council that puts into dialogue two of the most representative cultural expressions of the city: the book and the wine. The event, included in the program of activities to celebrate the International Book Day, will take place on Calle Larga between 11.00 and 14.00 hours, and will bring together bookstores, publishers and wineries in an environment open to the public, where you can enjoy a festive atmosphere in which letters and wines will be paired. In addition, it will feature the participation of animation and puppet characters at the Alameda del Banco. In this context, Fundador will have its own space in which, in addition to offering tastings in cocktail format, it will highlight its book Fundador. The first Spanish brandy, a publication that collects the history, legacy and evolution of the oldest Spanish brandy brand, edited on the occasion of its 150th anniversary. A pleasant volume with texts from the Jerez journalist Javier Benítez, accompanied by original photographs by Abel Valdenebro and a selection from the vast archive of Bodegas Fundador: photographs, posters and other memories of a true icon. In addition, it features the prologue by Ferran Adrià, in which the chef confesses to having used Fundador in some of his recipes: “A drop is enough to perfume the palate”, praises the renowned chef with his heart in the pen.Edited by Abalon Books, the book can be purchased at bookstores in Jerez and at Bodegas Fundador. The presence of this volume at a day dedicated to literature reinforces the natural link that exists between the literary and wine-making fields in Jerez de la Frontera. The participation of the winery is framed in its commitment to promote cultural initiatives that connect tradition and contemporaneity, bringing Jerez brandy to new audiences and contexts. In a city where wine is part of the collective narrative, meetings like “Literature and Wine” underline this close relationship between heritage, territory and identity.

Fundador, tradition and excellence

The history of Bodegas Fundador dates back to 1730, making it the oldest winery in the Marco de Jerez. In 1874, the first Spanish brandy was born in its facilities, laying the foundations of a unique tradition. Its distinctive character arises from aging through the Criaderas and Solera system, in American oak barrels previously steeped with Jerez wines, which provide aromatic complexity and an unmistakable profile.

Currently, Bodegas Fundador is part of Emperador Distillers, the holding of the Tan family, world leader in brandy and one of the largest manufacturers of spirits. Under its umbrella, Fundador and other brands such as Terry, Harveys or Espléndido continue to consolidate their presence inside and outside of Spain, reinforcing the heritage and prestige of Jerez viticulture.
