The recognition confirms the international leadership and excellent trajectory of the oldest winery in the Jerez region, founded in 1730

Madrid, November 19, 2025

Fundador is celebrating. The oldest winery in the Jerez region and birthplace of the first Spanish brandy positions itself on the podium as the third winery in the world and the first and only in the recently published ranking of the “Top 50 Wine Producers”, compiled by the prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) 2025.

A leading position in a competition that gains relevance considering that in this edition 2,268 producers have been evaluated from 50 countries. The classification covers all wine categories presented to the contest – from still and sparkling wines to generous ones – which further underscores the magnitude of the recognition granted to Fundador as the third global producer.

A historic achievement that confirms the quality and prestige of Fundador, a winery with almost 300 years of history and a benchmark in the wine and wine tourism scene. Its prestige is based on the combination of respect for tradition and, for its innovative attitude to adapt to the new customer profile without losing respect for its essence and legacy.

The “Top 50 Wine Producers” classification is a new initiative born to recognize producers who show a “continued exceptional performance”. The ranking is compiled by analyzing the role of the candidates in the last three editions, taking into account not only the medals obtained, but also the non-awarded samples. Analysis that aims to offer a complete and cross-sectional view of the trajectory and excellence of each producer.

The good news has been received with enthusiasm at the winery. For Ángel Piña, Global Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer of Grupo Emperador and advisor at Casa Pedro Domecq, this recognition as the best Spanish producer and third in the world ranking is a pride and, at the same time, a stimulus. “It is an honor to be the references of Spanish wine on the world stage, endorsed by one of the oldest and most prestigious events in the world, where values so important to us such as the excellence of what we produce and respect for the traditional methods of production”.

Ahead of Fundador, the only Spanish winery in the Top 50 Wine Producers ranking published by IWSC, only a Portuguese winery, Pereira D’Oliveira de Madeira, in the first place and Graham Beck from South Africa, in the second.

Other awards in a historic year

This recognition of Bodegas Fundador is another line in a curriculum full of medals and awards obtained in recent months and close a particularly brilliant season for Fundador.

All these awards consolidate Bodegas Fundador as one of the great world references of generous and fortified wines.
